Hello AI Enthusiasts ๐
This week Iโm sharing some resources Iโve discovered that focus on a compelling intersection: AI and assessment design.
The advent of artificial intelligence has not only transformed how we approach learning and education but also how we design, implement, and rethink assessments. With AI's ever-expanding capabilities, it's becoming increasingly clear that making assessments "AI-proof" is more elusive than ever (is it even possible?).
The resources below prompt us to explore how AI can be leveraged to enhance the design and fairness of assessments, ensuring they are adaptive, personalized, and reflective of a learner's true capabilities.
Enjoy!

๐ What Iโm Reading This Week
While delivering AI training sessions recently in New Zealand, I picked up a copy of โMachines Behaving Badly, The Morality of AIโ and am deeply engrossed in learning more about the history of AI, thanks to the expert writings of the gifted Toby Walsh.
In the book, Walsh explores the ethical dimensions of AI, addressing both the remarkable advancements and potential pitfalls associated with this technology. He reflects on the societal impact of AI, from job displacement to the transformation of warfare, emphasizing the need for responsible development and ethical considerations.
Through his writing, Walsh highlights the dual nature of AI, showcasing its capacity to amplify human skills while cautioning against its misuse. "Machines Behaving Badly" offers a thought-provoking examination of AI's moral implications and the critical role of ethics in shaping its future trajectory.
